Using one of the most misunderstood methods in dog training to build and lay a foundation for a well balanced and environmentally sound pup. Imprinting has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years to show dogs mental pictures and stimuli through operant and classical conditioning, that will make them sound and confident dogs in their future environments.
Imprinting For Your Specific Needs
Things that are imprinted that many people over look are things like:
Protection work
Crate training
Potty Training
Hunting
Specifically desired movements
Obedience
Swimming, jumping, frisbee, fetch
Ignoring certain sounds
… and much much more ! Although not many of the behaviors imprinted are on cue or commandable with a very young dog 8 - 16 weeks old, they will be much easier to establish while the dog is learning the finished behavior. Imprinting can be boring, repetitive, and time consuming to say the least if you don’t have the patience for it. But done efficiently, it is the most time saving and advantageous thing you can do for a dog with a job, or even a house pet !
